I don’t mind getting older. What’s to mind!
So when Michael asked me last week what I wanted to do for my birthday, I couldn’t think of anything more thrilling than to go for a bike ride.
Okay, some of you are probably saying I need a more exciting life, but I’m here to tell you nothing could have made me happier!
And I say that because I COULD ride my bike!
It’s been months since I have been strong enough, but here I am, once again strong enough to ride. It was a short ride, but one of the sweetest I’ve ever pedaled. My spirit was soaring, my legs were pumping and my heart was singing!
Ah, to be alive doing the things I love with the person I love.
May your next birthday be as sweet as my last!
Until then, may you enjoy being alive, doing the things you love with the people you love.
What could be sweeter!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LOVELY LADY!!!!!! Here’s to celebrating YOU – Thank you for being born – you are a gift to all who know you, that I can say with absolute certainty. I hope you get to send off many colored balloons! Love, Rita
Thanks, Rita! For many years I phoned my mother on my birthday to thank her for birthing me. 🙂 She died last year at 99-years-old, but I still sent her a mental thank you last week. So glad to be here, receiving wishes from loved ones like you!
Gayle….I love you so!!!! You just bring joy to my life whenever I think of you (which is OFTEN) or when I read your blog. I’m so happy you had the ride of your life on your Birthday!!!!!
We’re in the business of moving, and I’ve been a poor communicator with you (or anybody!) but I want you to know that I think of you every day, giving gratitude for you in my life, and for your incredible healing you did with me….THANK YOU!!!!
All my lovin’, Francie
Hi Francie,
Off on a new adventure–how exciting! Thank you for your love–I treasure it, and mine for you.
Great to celebrate your birthday for a whole week! I’m planning my week in August, on the coast, with Bruno, and visiting friends along the way! Yippee!
Wish I could be there–sounds like fun! Isn’t this a round-numbered birthday for you?
Ah, you make me weep, in a good way, of course. I’m finding my way through the aftermath of foot surgery last Sept., a hysterectomy in Feb., another foot surgery in April and ongoing pain. But man, when I could walk without a limp for ten minutes in the woods on Sunday, I, too, soared. And not to mention the three-week trip on a sailboat in Alaska and British Columbia. I considered myself very fortunate indeed.
Thank you for reminding me to be grateful for those previous moments, not necessarily the number.
And yeah, who cares about getting older. It just means we’re still here!! Happy Birthday!!
Seems like we all have “stuff,” doesn’t it? Guess that is what connects us all: support and compassion for each other. Glad you’re on the mend. I considered you lucky, too. 🙂
Happy birthday to you dear sweet lady! Enjoy your time with your honey…
Hi Debra,
Oh, we did enjoy! I love being married to a man who is happy to see me happy! He was thrilled that day.
Beautiful. Happy, Happy Birthday. We July babies are something else.
Love the photos.
Susan
Thank you–didn’t know you are a July baby, too. Summer is our time to shine! Are you settled in on your new property?
Praise God you were up to a Birthday Ride! I know that is a way you loved celebrating your birthday and with the most precious man alive. I think of you everyday in my prayers, I have so many things to thank God for and one is that I have wonderful friends like you. I love you dear lady~ give that handsome man of yours a hug for me and keep one for yourself.
Mary
Hi Mary, I DO praise God–every day! You, as much as anyone I know, know about the sweetness of life. May we both continue to enjoy it for a long time to come. Let me know when you’re ready for a visit to our mountaintop. Love, Gayle
Happy B-Day and many more!!!! You looks fantastic …..and the smile!!!!!

You go girl! And it wasn’t too hot. Not like it will be this Saturday. ({{ : -D (you with a big smile and the wind blowing your whispy hair under your helmet as you ride along)
Hi Laurie, Wispy hair blowing in the breeze is what I live for. 🙂 Hope to ride again this Sat., even in the heat!
Happy Birthday! Late
Every year I tell myself I should make a list of all our relatives and friends birthdays and then……..
Great pictures. You and Mike look wonderful and happy. Many more bike rides to come.
Dennis and Liz
Hi Liz. Thanks for the birthday wishes. I love celebrating–all month long! I don’t have a birthday list, either. One of those “will get around to” items. 🙂
Dearest Gayle…Happy Birthday HUGS and birthday blessings! You inspired me to dust off my bike…it has been hanging in the garage for too long! Hope you had a great ride!
Still looking forward to you coming to visit on a cooler day!
Yay! Can’t wait to see you on your bike. Bikes=happiness!
A very happy belated birthday greeting to you sprinkled with extra wishes for continued strength and joy. I remember that bridge and those smoothies, too! So good to see the smiles on you and Mike. May there be many more miles of smiles!

I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than being on a bike! I loved how we used to celebrate by biking together to celebrate each other’s new age. Fun times. Great photos of you riding, you look perfectly content!
Hi Sara,
I am perfectly content, no matter what I’m doing, so I must be doing something right! 🙂 I also like foodie and body work celebrations!
Hi Gayle,
Sounds like you had a wonderful day. And yes, you should celebrate all month, and beyond! Enjoy !!!
Still celebrating. 🙂
