Friends are the Rubber Chickens in Life!

It never occurred to me that friendship is the rubber chicken in the crystal cathedral of life.

una & nancy & Liz 072

Until now, that is.

Now I think:

Sometimes you’re the dumb cluck; sometimes you’re the rock.

That’s what my friends Nancy and Liz showed me this week when they came to visit.

First, I was the dumb cluck.

Nancy came from Massachusetts. She taught me that when you need a good friend to lean on, snuggle!

Gayle, Liz & Nancy I wanna snuggle!

I wanna snuggle!

Liz came from New York City. She taught me that sand in your pants is worth a few good bubbles!

Life is short: Blow bubbles!

Together they taught me that they are here for me, offering shelter during my storm.

We're Here!

We’re Here!

And then I was the rock.

I taught my friends that reaching out to me at one of the most intimate times in my life is sacred.

And I love them for it–forever!

Friends giving each other a hand!

Friends giving each other a hand!

How about you?

Who are your friends that you will love forever? Who is sharing the most intimate times of your life?

If you haven’t seen them in a while, don’t wait: THIS is the most intimate time in your life!

Besides, you never know when your friend may need a dumb cluck; or when your friend may need a rock!

You never cease to amaze me. Just reading your blogs and digesting them, makes a nervous wreck like me feel a sense of peace. Better than a Xanax…or a martini. What better gift could you offer? But I never forget that while you make all of this seem easy/peasy, it is a rough ride. And your bravery is a huge part of the equation. xoxoxo Ish (But I’m not throwing the Xanax away, just in case).

Don’t know about that Xanax or martini, but do know about this inner peace: it’s the best. Yes, the ride is rough, but I learned from roller coaster rides long ago that it’s not as scary with your eyes open! Hugs, Gayle

GAYLEEEEE! This is so beautiful , special to see! What a tribute to our adventure together! Thank you for the most magical week and know I am thinking of you sending you bubbles and snuggles and all sorts of rubber chicken sillinesses from my heart. I cannot wait for you to see Jan! I wish I could be there. I am there in spirit. Kisses and kisses to you and to Mike. And thanks for the trail mix… today on my walk with Nino we spotted origami cranes poking out all over my street. It looked as if it had rained origami cranes! Every now and then there is something magical to be found even in a New York City hike 🙂 It made me think of you. I love you I love you!

You are my bubbly snuggly friend! And I treasure our rubber chicken silliness; that’s one of the things we seem to do best! Jan will be here today: wish you could be here too. We’ll whoop it up for the three of us. Keep up those magical hikes in NYC–even if you have to create your own.
      Love, love, love you!

Gayle, You are such encouragement to the rest of us in this temporary place, in your every day expressions even if you feel like a rubber chicken at times, we do to, yet like that crystal, you shine out in all the right directions and may our appreciation and love shine back to you. Think of you often, as well as Mike.

    • gayle says:

Hi Sandra, Thank you for your love! I think of you, too, and your beautiful east coast home. Hope you’re well and happy!
