Can you keep a secret?
No?
Neither can I. (But don’t tell. :-))
If you can’t keep a secret then it’s not you I’m looking for. In fact, telling secrets narrows my search considerably.
Can you keep a secret?
Yes?
Then maybe it’s you!
For you see, for the past three Christmases, since I was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February 2011, I’ve had a Secret Santa who sends me bulbs ready to flower. I’ve asked all the likely suspects I’ve come into contact with, but each assures me it’s not him/her.
To tell the truth, I’m glad I can’t find my Secret Santa. I’ve quit asking. There are some mysteries in life that are better left unexplained. Too many words!
And I’m glad I forget by year’s end so that I’m surprised and delighted anew each time I receive yet another gift.
And let’s face it, I’m delighted anew each time I get to spend another Christmas and New Year on Earth. Aren’t you glad you do, too?
After all, life–love–and Santa–work in mysterious ways. Each brings hope and wonder. Each brings promise. Each brings our heart’s desire. If we can just find them….
None of these forces can be seen, except by the feelings and gifts they leave behind. (Well, maybe Santa, if you’re really lucky!)
Maybe we’re all like Secret Santas. We leave feelings and gifts with each person and creature we meet.
In this New Year, may each us of leave the gifts of hope, wonder, promise, love AND FLOWERS!
Happy New Year, Dear Readers!
Thank you for reading and sharing my blog posts. Thanks to you, I have visitors from all over the world dropping in for a sip of the sweet life. If you care to share, and the fb and share icons do not appear below, you can click on the post’s title and they should appear. Or not, who knows? It’s a mystery!
Happy New Year to you Gayle!! Love you so much
It is a Happy New Year! Hope it is for you, too. Love you as much.
Your message was among the first that started my new year. You always remind me to count my blessings. Once, twice…. oh, just keep on counting! May you encounter many happy moments in 2014!
Let’s never stop that counting, shall we! Moments would be happier with a visit from my New York Jan one day. Or, maybe with a few more blessings, I can visit my New York Jan in New York one day!
HAPPY NEW YEAR GAYLE AND MIKE!!
I LOVE the sentence about us all being Secret Santas. I have always loved knowing we go through life touching other’s lives in a special way. I guess I have a secret then…Can you keep it? I get such a high from the fact of NOT having any idea how I may have been one of someone else’s best life lessons, a part of one of the happiest time in their life, one of the lil voices in their head that reminds them to laugh at least six times a day or just that connection they needed for that moment. I can hear my mother’s voice saying “If you have a secret and you want it to stay a secret, then don’t tell it to ANYONE” Well Gayle….I think I just blew that secret then. LOL
May 2014 bring you all of the joy and good feelings you help bring others lives with your life stories….Thank you for sharing them. Happy New Year
Good Energy Sent Your Way
Leonard
Hi Leonard,
Sometimes secrets MUST be told, and that is one of them! You are truly an example of giving selfless service. You’re a very wise man, Leonard! I wish you happiness and will see you again in March. My best!
Oh Thank you for sharing those flowers, I can smell their wonderful smell right now. I have just finished taking the decor off my Christmas tree, such memories the ornaments hold of past children now grown and grandchildren growing up like flowers here and there. Each of us starting a New Year, turning thoughts and imagining beautiful days together and inspiring notes from you, Gayle! May Peace Love and Harmony prevail! Happy New Year !
Sweet image of children growing like flowers, Sandra. I think that would make one of your fantastic paintings! Thank you for your kind words, and may you and yours be filled with joy!
If I were to offer an opinion here,Gayle, I would say that you are Secret Santa to everyone who has the great delight to know you, no matter where they are on this planet. And that’s because within the (always exceptional) words and pictures on each blog post you create, is an energy, your energy that is wise and strong and beautiful and healing, pouring out of each computer screen, out into the hearts of those who read your blog, out into the world – and I would not be surprised, into the cosmos. That’s just how incredible is the gift you give us! And oh, if that extra bonus of all that good energy is a secret, then shhhhhhhhh, everyone – we’ll not tell, but may we all pass that energy along to all we know, too.
How beautiful, Rita, thank you! Especially coming from one who writes her heart in her publications every year! Which, by the way, I haven’t received for a while. I must have missed a re-subscribe date. Will look into it. Readers may want to, also, if they love animals. (laJoie is the name of the periodical.) We’re all Secret Santas, Rita, as you have experienced for years with all the animals you save. Many blessings for a joy filled new year!
Happy New Year, dear Gayle!
You continue to be an inspiration, leaving those unexpected gifts of wisdom, wonder, gratitude, friendship and love. You enhance the quality of my life and so many others as I learn to pay your gifts forward.
Love you!
YOU are the gift, sweetheart, don’t you know that! All the rest of us know. 🙂 Hope I can make it to your class on Jan. 16th!
WISHING YOU ALL THE LOVE YOUR HEART CAN HOLD! You continue to be in our prayers and a source of inspiration. New Year Blessings to you!
Thank you, Sandi! I was wondering the other day if your prayer group still thinks of me. Thank you–it is most appreciated and seems to be working thus far. And as far as having all the love my heart can hold–I can’t think of a more lovely sentiment! May you have the same. Blessings
Thats sweet that someone does that for you. A sweet gift to surprise you each year. Prayers with you.happy new year to you both.
